Our Projects
West Camden WWTP
Norris estimates managed a team of 3 estimators and oversaw the development of a bid winning D&C offer for an alternative Membrane Bio-reactor solution. The alternative provided for faster delivery through a negotiated lump sum fee for design, overheads & prelims, with a Guaranteed Maximum Price on trade costs. This provided Sydney Water with visibility of all direct costs throughout the design phase to assist control the design to their budget. The MBR also provided for long term savings on power and chemicals in NPV terms.
Tamworth Water Purification Scheme
Baiada is seeking an expansion of their chicken rendering facility which requires an intensive water recycling program. The viability of the program will be assisted by combining it with the Council’s growing water demands. Hunter H2O prepared a scope and design to approx. 10% completion. Norris Estimates worked with a water treatment plant partner, pump suppliers, a local civil contractor and various materials suppliers to prepare an AACE Class 3 estimate.
Upper Hunter Connection
Submersible river off-take including cofferdam construction. Deep pump well, cyclonic sand separators and raw water balance tank. Greenfield Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) potable water treatment plant. Network pipelines from the off-take to the existing network via the WTP and several new pump stations and a reservoir. Total 26km new trunk mains including numerous micro-tunnels under waterways and railway lines. AACE Class 3 estimate.
Woolgoolga to Ballina Highway Upgrade
Construct only 15km Pacific Highway upgrade North of Grafton including clear & grub, bulk earthworks transverse drainage, early works for 5 No. bridges, installation of 3 No. Bailey bridges. Significant environmental protection measures for endemic fish and coastal emus.
Bolivia Hill Bridge
Abutment construction to steep granite terrain, rock excavation to steep hillside below the existing New England Highway, 20 & 35m high blade piers, deck and box segments cast-insitu from a cantilevered travelling form, 9m high temporary retaining wall for site access. Protection of endangered Bolivia Wattle. Staging to suit eagle nesting season.
Port Bonython Fuel Jetty
Methodology and first principles estimate for the Port Bonython Jetty Pipeline Construction. The delivered works included a 4.0km long DN500 mild steel pipeline along a 2.40km long jetty. The methodology resulted in a longer construction program, however avoided operational disruptions to the live industrial jetty and was thus considered a success by the jettys’ owner operators.
Cascade Pier Norfolk Island
Under water drilling and grouting in open sea conditions. Utilisation of local plant labour and materials. Challenging logistics for delivery of plant and pre-cast units. Several options needed to be assessed to balance risk against a more competitive bid. These included percentage of bad sea days, jacking barge vs standard barges and proportion of LAFHA tradespeople vs local workers.
Barrangaroo South
Won through a three stage competitive process of elimination. Australia's first precinct wide 5 Star Green Star development.
Prepared the estimate and risk analysis for the central sea water cooling and heat exchange system including tri-generation engines and absorbers, plus site wide chilled water reticulation. Estimated the centralised wet fire pump system and reticulation and precinct wide gas reticulation.
